Community Portrait Exhibition brings together artworks by members of The Open Art Club, celebrating the diversity and rich mix of identities and cultures within our community and wider society. One of the oldest art forms, portraiture has long been used to record and preserve human likeness before the invention of photography. Yet portraits are more than simple records: they are shared encounters, capturing the meeting point between artist and sitter, where presence, perception, and human connection are gently revealed.
Through portraits of everyday moments that shape their lives, the artists in this exhibition showcase both their skills and personal perspectives.
Each artwork is accompanied by an audio recording, inviting viewers to dive deeper into the stories behind the portraits and the people who created them. The audio tracks are accessible via QR codes displayed next to the portraits. This additional audible layer opens up different modes of experience, allowing audiences to step into the narratives being shared.
